What you should know about Breast Cancer - More than 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, that is what the experts are approximating. Thousands of women will die, and thousands more will be survivors, but not before the intense treatments, emotional and physical exhaustion will affect them and their families.

How often should you check your breasts? - You should do a self examination at least once a month either in the shower, in front of the mirror, or while lying down. Some women are unsure how to do it properly. Here is a link for you to download a step by step instruction of how to check while showering from Healthy Women informed and empowered. If you detect a change or find a lump you should consult your physician as soon as possible. The course of action is usually self check if change then physician, mammogram or ultrasound. From there your doctor will be able to direct you on the next course of action. There are no age limits, younger women than what once was expected are developing breast cancer, as your daughter becomes a teen it would be pro-active to teach her how to check her breasts.
