My Apothecary

Berta's Apothecary

This post will be the entirety of my essential oils and reviews. Many of these products are mixed with aromatherapy, cleaning products, and health benefits for various disorders. I thought it would be easier to make one large post rather than several small ones. You will notice I stick to certain brands, not because I get a discount or not, rather they are the companies I like the best for certain oils and the life of the oil.

Peppermint Essential Oil by Simply Earth - 15 ml, 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade I was glad to be offered this product at a discounted rate just when I was about to purchase more. This is my honest unbiased opinion about the product and how well it does or does not work. This company also uses part of its proceeds to help in preventing human trafficking. I very much enjoy working with companies that give back instead of worrying about the bottom line of the dollar. #simplyearth
Peppermint essential oils have been used for a thousand years in the treatment of asthma and this year it has been a terrible year for me. When my inhalers are not working as they should I can always count on my diffuser and a few drops of peppermint oil to help calm my wheezing and allow me to breath more normally. I am used to getting a very small bottle and pleased that this bottle was a 15ml instead of the smaller 10 ml I am used to.
Other uses for Peppermint Oil include calming the mind/body during an anxiety attack or panic attack try to using some it will sooth and relax as long as there is no outside stimuli (kids yelling, construction etc.) lay down and slowly breathe while inhaling the air (use a diffuser). I have been told to use it on my aching muscles during spasms, but the overwhelming smell can also be obnoxious when used topically. It can help with bad breath and stomach issues such as nausea. Although I have never tried it as an adult my grandmother used to give it to me as a child. I do not remember, but this is a product our family uses on a regular basis. 15 ml may not sound like much, but it will last you the better part of a year.
I know that people use it to deter rodents and bugs of all sorts. It is easy to drop a few drops (no more than four) into your cleaning solution and mop floor. It is the easiest distribution and bugs hate it. I like using high-grade essential oils to replace pharmaceuticals it is a practice called homeopathy. I would rather put something natural in my body and not have the side effects of additives to medications. I have given you a few uses that I currently use it for, but I am sure you will find a use for it since there are far more than I mentioned.

Majestic Pure Therapeutic Grade Peppermint Essential Oil, 4 Oz. With Dropper Some of this information is a reiteration of another review only for the purpose of using the Peppermint Oil. If you have time reading my essential oil reviews you know that I use one company for my small 10ml and 15 ml bottles, and only two others for my large purchases. I love the Majestic Pure for the large bottle Peppermint, since it has been less than a month and I already am out of the 15ml bottle. The 4 ounces will do well for me.

Overall, Majestic Pure oil is my go to for several oils with pure clean scent and easy to blend. It comes in a large glass bottle with an eye dropper.
I received this product at a discounted rate for my unbiased honest opinion and not affiliated with this company at all other than buying different oils.

Majestic Pure Lavender Essential Oil, Therapeutic Grade, 3.5 fl. Oz Disclaimer-I received this product at a highly discounted rate for my honest unbiased opinion and testing purposes. I am new to the whole world of essential oils but find them much more alluring than taking a medication when the oils of a natural plant may give me the same result through smell, or in on my skin. I know and hope everyone else does as well not to ingest these oils as they can be toxic to the system. I am currently learning how to make a balm with Lavender essential oil, a butter balm for beards, as well as bath salts. This helps to calm nervous disorders such as anxiety, and a calming effect on irritability. Lavender has been used for many years as an insect repellent, as well as battle infections like upper respiratory with this you can use an infuser or vaporizer. There are so many different things I am learning about using Lavender oil I am constantly amazed that this is not a widely known thing amongst most people. It comes directly from the plant through a steaming process. However, it is a clean smell most say, I say it smells like antiseptic which in large quantities I do not find appealing. This large bottle comes with a glass eye dropper so that you do not overuse the product, yes it can be overused just as most anything you buy of this nature. Each recipe has its own number of drops. In small doses, this smells great, but don't stick your nose in the bottle like I did, because you will smell it for days. Lavender cleaner consists of 15 drops of lavender oil, 30 oz of vinegar, and two cups of distilled water mix well in a clean sprayer bottle and you have a home cleaner. You will find various recipes around the web that are useful and each person has their own mixture for a cleaner. A close friend is teaching me so I am confident in her know how since she has been doing this for years.

Radha Beauty Rosehip Oil - 100% Pure Cold Pressed Certified Organic 4 fl. oz. - BEST moisturizer to heal Dry Skin & Fine Lines - Virgin Rose Hip Seed Oil For Face and Skin  I am a novice when it comes to essential oils and how to create recipes although a friend of mine has taught me and giving us products she has made that I find extremely effective. I wanted to start doing this on my own and decided I needed some of the top notch brands to make sure I get true 100% pure organic oils. The Rosehip Seed Oil by Radha Beauty is certified cold pressed. Comes in a large bottle of four ounces with an eyedropper.

The smell, well Rosehip does not smell like roses in any way shape or form. The color, however, is a peachy hue some call say more orange, it is an earthy fresh smell, and to each person that smell is slightly different although not obnoxious at all. It comes from the seed, so to make you understand I will use pumpkin seeds as an example. Although it comes from a pumpkin the seed does not smell or taste like pumpkin. The same can be said about Rosehip, however, you should never ingest it if you do you will need to seek medical attention.

Uses: Stretch marks, itchy skin, beauty treatment for wrinkles and dark spots. It can also be used on the scalp work it in let it sit for an hour and wash it out for a nice healthy head of hair. I warm it up before putting it in my hair lukewarm is good and it conditions very well. I have used other brands, but this is my preferred brand for this particular oil. As I said I am new at making my own recipes, but not at the usages. If you are pregnant and worried about stretch marks start using it while you are pregnant it helps to give the skin more elasticity and prevents deep stretch marks, if you have them already use it to lessen the severity of the stretch marks. I often use this under my eyes and at the corners where crow's feet tend to develop and they are barely visible. That is a pretty good statement for a 51-year-old woman to make. After I found this Rosehip I no longer have to spend a great deal of money to get the results I want.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil - Big 4 Oz - 100% Pure & Natural Therapeutic Grade - Premium Quality Oil for Aromatherapy, fresh scent and multiple home remedies by Radha Beauty like using the essential oils and not store-bought remedies, far fewer side effects and more holistic. This oil -Eucalyptus Essential Oi has been around since the tree itself and has been used for thousands of years as a healing agent for wounds, upper respiratory problems, and various other ailments. The one thing I will never do is ingest any oil. Although you will find recipes that say it is OK to ingest I prefer not to do so of my own accord.

I suffer from chronic allergies and sinusitis, a few drops in a diffuser while I sleep helps my nasal passages to stay open and if I am congested it works as an expectorant so that I can cough all the collected mess out of my lungs. Therefore cutting my costs by having to use a rescue inhaler. If it is emergent, six drops of oil in a bowl of boiling water and my head over it with a hood or towel covering both the bowl and my head with a few simple inhalations the attack eases.

It is easy to make your own oil, but remember to dilute it. I suggest the easy way is to buy the prepared oil so you don't have to share with the world your Eucalyptus. It is a mentholated smell, and can work while mixing it with a few drops of peppermint oil and coconut oil to create a vapor rub that is very soothing when you have a cold. I always dilute my Eucalyptus because it is strong. You can smell it through the box.

When buying these oils make sure it says 100% pure and organic, the last thing you want is a watered-down version. Radha is my favorite brand of this oil. It comes in a large four-ounce bottle with an eyedropper for easy measuring.

There are many other uses for this oil, I have not experimented with them all since my family is not particularly fond of the smell. I find it refreshing and clean. The web has many different types of recipes I have yet to try from wound care to disinfectant cleaner. The choice is yours to decide what works best for you. I highly recommend this brand for Eucalyptus.

Clove Essential Oil from Majestic Pure, Therapeutic Grade Oil is Extracted from Leaves, Pure and Natural, 4 fl. oz.Clove leaf essential oil is one of my newest tries, I love the smell of cloves although it is not overpowering it is such a sweet clean scent that reminds me of clove gum I used to chew as a child. This was one thing my mother had always kept on hand for tooth pain. It never failed that we would have a toothache on a weekend and there is little an emergency room doctor can do. She would put a dab on her finger and rub it on our gums. I am not sure she even realized fifty years later this would be something everyone was looking for. This is something just passed down through my family, and I have no idea where it started. I realized how inexpensive a large amount of Clove Oil is compared to the products available at the drugstore. So, again I asked my friend if she could teach me how to properly use clove in other areas than just tooth or gum pain.

I am very pleased with the results, however, I have learned not all oils are the same, each company has their own oil, and I pick which one suits me the best. Not that they are not good, it is just in preference. I use two main sources for my large bottles of oil, and one for my smaller 10ml bottles but those smaller bottles do not last very long at all. The Majestic Pure is my go to for my clove oil, it doesn't seem as harsh and easy to work with when combining with other oils. Not to mention much more inexpensive than using cloves themselves which can add if you are using it to deodorize your home. A few drops of oil, an orange peel, and some water will give you a wonderful fresh scent without the antiseptic feel.

As with all essential oils, you must educate yourself on their uses and fit it into your lifestyle. These are pure oil without additives, that is why I am buying them. The additives are the things you cannot read on the ingredient bottle if I can't say it why would I use it? Skin test each oil, be it the clove from Majestic, or another oil before using. Some people are sensitive. I have also mixed a few drops of clove oil, lemon oil, and water together to spray around the house. You must make sure to shake it (water and oil need to be shaken to mix). Use it in a diffuser, some will mix cinnamon with it, however, I do not like the smell combination and tend to stick to the citrus scent. If you don't have a diffuser it is easy enough to make one 'or use your wax melt warmer as one.

Overall, Majestic Pure oil is my go to for several oils with pure clean scents and easy to blend.

Cinnamon Essential Oil From Majestic Pure Extracted From Leaves, Pure and Natural Therapeutic Grade, 4 fl. oz. (Misc.)
I am going to start out with a warning to Novice/beginner warnings on using Cinnamon Oil especially this one and any 100% pure Cinnamon Oil, DO NOT INHALE directly from the bottle. If you have asthma or not the over exposure to inhalation will be from minimal to severe. Difficulty breathing, shortness of breath will occur. Take yourself outside and get some fresh air as it irritates the nasal passages and lungs. Being that up close and personal.

Majestic Pure Cinnamon Oil has many positive attributes, it is used in conjunction with other oils as a spray for deodorizing, or freshening the stale smells in your home. I was told by my therapist to use a few drops in a diffuser or warmer while I am meditating or relaxing. It helps to elevate some signs of depression and anxiety. You can tailor what you want by checking out the many recipes online or buy a book on essential oil. Majestic Pure again is my choice for this particular oil. I am very pleased with it, but when I was a novice with this oil I did the one thing all books tell you not to do and that is to inhale directly from the bottle, remember this is a no no.

Something else you should be aware of is that prolonged use can cause problems for those with sensitive skin, or use it for toothpicks, gum, or any other ingestion. Be careful and know what you are using it for. Just as you would any medicinal item. The bottle is labeled therapeutic for a reason. Many mix theirs with canola oil for body rubs, you only need a few drops to achieve this. The problem is not with the oil itself it is with the application and misuse of the oil. I happen to like Olive oil mixtures to soothe aching arthritis and it helps a great deal, not to mention smells clean and slightly sweet earthy smell.

Most people expect a strong cinnamon smell, but it is not the same as the spice itself it is much more of a subdued smell. I am pretty sure that is why some people myself included at one time or another inhaled from the bottle. I must reiterate, this is a great product, but you must know what you are doing before you start using it without education on what to do with it.

Overall, Majestic Pure oil is my go to for several oils with pure clean scents and easy to blend. It comes in a large glass bottle with an eye dropper.
